"He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much."
Bessie Anderson Stanley

This quotation is my rebuttal to those who said that Dad was not a success because he did not accrue a lot of money. I only wish I had found this quote whenever I would hear Dad refer to his feelings of "failure."

While this is a substantial collection of Dad's writings, it is not a total of what he wrote. For example, he authored the nine-volume publication: Course in Fire Engineering published by the University of Fire Engineering, Los Angeles, in 1926 . This was Dad's attempt to educate firemen in the "scientific" principles for fighting fire. His venture was a mail order plan in which he often said: We'll have graduates on the steps of every Post Office in the Country. Sadly, his venture into business coincided with the "Great Depression" and Dad had to declare bankruptcy.
